FAQ
Is a high-performance PC required to run RX-888?
A high-performance computer is not necessary. We recommend a processor with a clock speed of 3GHz or above, such as Intel i3. 8GB of RAM and a standard discrete graphics card are sufficient for smooth operation. For example, a computer with an i5 4590/8GB DDR3L/GTX770 can run RX888 smoothly with a 32M real-time bandwidth.
HDSDR and other software cannot detect RX-888.
Ensure that the Device Manager shows the presence of Cypress FX3 USB Bootloader Device and that the drivers are correctly installed. Please reference Get Started for the detailed instructions.
Confirm that the device is connected to a USB 3.0 port or a USB port compatible with USB 3.1/3.2.
Experiencing audio stuttering and abnormal functionality.
Confirm that the device is connected to a USB 3.0 port or a USB port compatible with USB 3.1/3.2. Try reducing bandwidth, and if the computer's performance is insufficient, it may not run beyond a 16M bandwidth.
For laptops, disable USB power-saving mode in the power management options or use an external power source to ensure unrestricted computer performance.
Spectrum interference, particularly noticeable in the low-frequency range.
Some computers use USB 3.0 through a PCIE expansion board, generating 5V power through DC-DC, which can introduce interference.
Using an EMI filter connected in series with the AC input power will improve noise in the LF/MW frequency range.
The enclosure is heating up.
Operating the RX888 for extended periods at around 25 degrees Celsius does not require additional cooling; body heat is normal.
Ensure that the device's operating environment is not excessively hot and that heat dissipation is adequate.
Can both HF/V antenna ports use the same antenna?
Yes, the RX-888's internal two receiving channels have sufficient isolation. However, for optimal performance, it is recommended to use a power divider to connect one antenna to both HF/V ports.
How to Use External Clock Input
You need to open the casing and remove the jumper cap next to the IPEX socket. Introduce the external clock through the IPEX socket. Clock input requirements: frequency = 27MHz, Vpp < 3.5V. n6gn had a very detailed instruction on this. Please check this document: Modification of RX888 v2 for External Clock Input.
