Purchase List
Before you can use the Web-888 SDR, there are a number of components that need to be prepared.
- Suitable antenna to receive signals, you can go to Antenna Selection Guide to choose the right antenna to purchase
- A 5V USB power supply with at least 2A current
- TF card with a capacity of 200MB
- TF card reader for writing images to the card
- A network cable to connect Web-888 to the network. Super 5 double shielded cable is recommended to reduce the interference.
- Optional: A USB Wi-Fi Dongle to use wireless network, or a USB UART dongle to use CAT, or a USB hub if you plan to use both.
In addition, the following components are highly recommended, but not required
- An active GPS antenna for time acquisition and frequency calibration
- If you are in a lightning-prone area, consider using an 800J surge protector to protect the board from power surges
Purpose of TF Card
Warning
There are large variety of TF cards available on the market. Please check the following requirements carefully.
Web-888 supports Boot from standard SD or SDHC cards, FAT32 or FAT16 formatted, and up to 32GB.
If you find a card with any of the following logos, size is less than 32GB, and the speed is not faster than 100MB/s. It is supported.
Any card with the following logo are not supported, which is SDXC card. DON'T BUY THIS.
Prepare TF Card
Go to Downloads Page to download the latest Web-888 SDR system distribution.
Depending on the operating system, there are different ways of writing images to the TF card.
In the following tutorial, the image is called web-888-alpine.3.20-20240801.zip
.
- Format TF card as FAT32. Depends on your OS, you may have a different way to formatting the card.
- Unzip the file
web-888-alpine.3.20-20240801.zip
to the TF card. The Root Folder of TF card should contains at least the following files. Make sure you didn't create a folder in root folder.
Tips
config folder contains all your settings. You can backup the folder before the update, then copy them back to TF card after the update. You can retain all your configurations by this way.
